Term 1 Week 10
As we come to the end of Term 1, I’m reminded of one of my favourite sayings: "There is no normal week in a school." From parent evenings and three-way conferences to NAPLAN testing, incursions and excursions, Senior Swimming, Interschool Sports, Harmony Day, and our Family Breakfast andEaster Hat Parade, every week has brought something new and exciting to our school community.
This week it was great to get to see the 5/6 students at Interschool Sport and visit the 3/4 Inquiry Showcase.
Today marked the end of a fantastic term with our much-anticipated Family Breakfast. It was lovely to see our entire community come together to celebrate and share in this special event. A big thank you to everyone who played a part in organising this, including OSH Club who organised the coffee van.
After the breakfast, we gathered for Assembly and our Easter Hat Parade. The creativity and effort that went into each of the Easter hats were amazing, with students, staff, and families all getting involved. It was wonderful to see the all the colourful, imaginative creations.
We also presented our 'Aussie of the month' awards to Maisie V and Durga.
A reminder for parents that teacher supervision in the playground begins at 8.40am each morning, and concludes at 3.45pm in the afternoon. If you need to leave your child at school before 8.40am, or they need to be picked up after 3.45pm, please book them in with OSH Club to ensure they are supervised safely.
As we move into Term 2, we will begin the process of relocating five grades into new classrooms. This change is a significant step forward in creating a more spacious learning environment for our students. Families and students who will be directly impacted by this transition have already been notified through Compass this week, and we have started to prepare the students for the upcoming changes. We understand that transitions like these can be both exciting and a bit daunting, so we’re committed to making the process as smooth as possible for everyone involved. This move will not only provide more space but also enable us to better utilise our school’s facilities, including a newly refurbished Library and Indonesian room.
We are also looking forward to the completion of the new basketball courts, which we anticipate will be ready for use sometime during Term 2. These new sports facilities will provide more opportunities for play, physical activity and team sports, which we believe will greatly benefit our students’ overall well-being and school experience. We’re eagerly awaiting the moment when these exciting developments are ready for the students to enjoy! I will keep you posted.
Yana, Jonny, Alycia, and our KESO Kira were thrilled to be invited to Antonio Park PS for the grand opening of their Indigenous Nature Trail. They enjoyed a fascinating guided tour led by the students, learning about native plants and their traditional uses for medicine, food, and essential items like fishing baskets, mats, and clothing. It was a truly inspiring experience, and we’re excited to bring some of these wonderful ideas to life in the future for our own beautiful garden at MPRPS!
information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Google Workspace for Education, please contact the school.
A reminder that the 2025 Parent Contributions are now due for payment through the Compass Portal. These contributions are essential for the smooth running of our school. They cover costs such as the books and stationery provided to your child at the start of the year, as well as digital technology, furniture, and other resources not funded by the government. Without your support, the school would not be able to offer the outstanding programs and resources that benefit our students.
If you know anyone planning to start Kinder or Foundation next year, spread the word about our wonderful school and community by inviting them to our Open Day! Flyers are available at the office. Feel free to share them with friends, family, and neighbours.
