Pink Shirt Day:

Pink Shirt Day is an important day and a focus at Western Heights. Kindness is something we constantly and consistently focus on.
One of our six Pōhatu Tūmu Foundation Stones is Manaakitanga - Kindness.
Manaakitanga—the value of caring for and uplifting others—is woven into every aspect of who we are at Western Heights.
Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported. This is why Pink Shirt Day holds such a special place in our annual calendar at Western Heights.
Celebrated nationwide, Pink Shirt Day is more than just a day to wear pink. It’s a powerful stand against bullying and a celebration of kindness, inclusivity, and respect. For us, it’s a chance to remind our children that words matter, actions count, and standing up for one another can change lives.
When our children - and staff - wear pink, they’re not just supporting this special day, they’re also living our school’s values. They’re showing the courage to be kind, the strength to speak up, and the commitment to look out for others. In doing so, they help shape our school culture where everyone belongs and everyone thrives.
For us, Pink Shirt Day isn’t just a date on the calendar. It’s a reflection of who we are, what we believe, and the future we’re helping our students create—one act of kindness at a time.
