A SUMMARY OF OUR TERM
Recess Recharge
Miss Jade and Miss Cora have had a successful start to Recess Recharge for the 2025 year, with many thanks to our fabulous Inclusion Aides Fatima, Beata, Harjot, Logan, Sabahath, Syeda, Jaswinder, Neha, Mehreen, Minakshi, Maree, Shelly and Peya!
The children have been enjoying a calm space in the new Recess Recharge room to play during recess time, where they have been making new friends and engaging in a variety of activities. Recess Recharge runs over both timetables and children are referred by their teachers.
Seasons for Growth
Miss S and Miss Cora have been running the first Seasons for Growth program of the year this term with some of our grade 3 students. The group has worked their way through Autumn, Winter, Spring, and will be completing the first session of Summer just before the end of the term. The students have built on their understanding of their feelings and reactions, sharing memories and building a peer support network, developing problem-solving and decision-making skills, and building on their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Yarning Circle
Miss S and Miss Lisa have begun meeting with our indigenous children of Tarneit Rise Primary school and have been diving into what it means to be indigenous. So far we have had one circle, and the children very much enjoyed this! They will be having a yarning circle once a month. The children looked at what it means to be indigenous and what the word indigenous actually means!
Speech Pathology team
Our speech pathology team Miss Annabel, Miss Steph, and Miss Lottie are working with children Prep to Grade 6 to support their literacy, language, and speech skills. The speech pathology team work with children one-on-one, in small groups, and with teachers and other education staff to support children who have communication support needs.
Lunchtime Drop in Centre
The Lunchtime Drop In Centre is a quiet space where any student can come if they are feeling overwhelmed outside or are having an “off” day or just need some quiet time.
Our Lunchtime Drop In Centre started in Week 8 this term. It has been extremely well attended with students engaging in community, conversation, and craft activities, or sitting on a bean bag and reading a book. Students have shown respect towards each other and the materials supplied and have taken responsibility to clean up at the end of each Lunchtime Drop In.
A big thank you to all the staff who support the Drop In and to all the wonderful helpers that stay and clean up at the end of lunch…you know who you are 🙂
Tarneit Rise Connect
Our first Tarneit Rise Connect for 2025 was an amazing success! A big thank you to Miss Cora, our Art Therapist, for facilitating a thoughtful and engaging activity.
Thank you to our courageous student Aurora, who presented to us the Acknowledgement to Country which she had written especially for our school. And of course, a huge thank you to all attendees who took time out of their busy lives to join us. We are very appreciative.
