Physical Education News

Dear Parents and Families,

As we approach the end of the term, we have been reflecting on all the different skills learnt so far in 2025. We have been assessing students game sense, and it has been amazing to see what they have learnt, and how they have brought that understanding into a variety of different games.

A special congratulations must go to our Grade Six students who competed fantastically during Gala Day. Students demonstrated our school values wonderfully and were great role models.

We hope you have a great break, and hopefully you will find some time for your children to practise some of the sports they have learnt in term one!

Superstar of the week

Well done to Dhiyash in Grade Five for his many achievements with Altona City in 2024 and winning the U11 cricket tournament 2024-2025. That is a lot of awards!

As always, please continue to send us photos of your superstars of the week so we can celebrate your amazing sporting achievements.

Preps, Grade One and Grade Two

The Preps have continued to work on catching skills and have been assessed on these abilities. They have also taken what they have learnt and applied it to different game settings with a level of competitiveness.

Grade 1s and 2s have focused specifically on the release, rotate and catch technique. In particular, we have spent time focusing on the rotate element which has allowed student to really improve on their catching. This key skill will be incredibly important for various sports they will be playing throughout the year.

Grade 3 and Grade 4

Grade 3’s and 4’s have been assessed over the last few weeks on their tennis and badminton game sense. We have been particularly focusing on students ability to use space on the court and to be able to successfully execute a variety of different shots.

Grade 5 and Grade 6

The grade 5’s have been assessed on their tennis game sense and shot execution this week. Students have been playing the teacher during mini games and have been able to showcase their wide ability of different shots.

The grade 6’s have continued with volleyball to end the term. They have progressed from shot practise to be able to participate in small games with alternative serves.

Team of the week

Team of the Week is a way to showcase students who are showing the school values in PE across all areas. These students give their best efforts and support other students around them to be the best they can be.
