Grade 4 Community News

We came to the end of a very successful Term 1, and we would like to wish each student and family a well deserved break. However, before we say goodbye we would like to give everyone an update on the last two weeks of our learning journey in PLC 4.
Reading
In Reading, we have continued with the Literature unit on Dragon Keeper by Carole Wilkinson. In the last two weeks students have looked deeper into the themes of Friendship, Grief & Loss, Courage & Power and how these themes create a certain mood in the text. Students have made connections and had valuable peer discussions voicing their opinions on how the different characters handled the situations they were in.
Writing
In Writing, students have been very busy with the final stages of their writing pieces, revising and editing their work before publishing. They have been very excited to share their stories with each other in class, assembly and in their journals on Seesaw. Please make sure you ask your child to share their writing with you.
Maths
Over the past 2 weeks, year 4 students have been developing their knowledge of multiplication and division. Students have used and created arrays to write multiplication and division facts. They have also learnt how to use associative facts of five to solve multiplication facts.
Harmony Day
What a fabulous day of celebrations the students experienced, showing off their culture through their clothing and sharing short speeches on ‘The importance of Harmony Day’. Thank you to each and every family that participated in this event!
Reminders
- The last day of Term 1 will be on Friday the 4th of April. Students will finish early at 2:30pm.
