Grade 1/2
This term, our students have been exploring the life stages of living things through hands-on learning!
To demonstrate their understanding, students have been busy creating and labelling 3D clay models of different life stages, such as tadpoles turning into frogs and caterpillars transforming into butterflies. This activity has helped them visualise growth and change while developing their fine motor skills and scientific thinking.
Grade 3/4
Students have been investigating the life cycle of plants, focusing on seeds, germination, and the growth of broad bean plants.
Through hands-on activities, students have examined different types of seeds, observed the conditions needed for germination, and tracked the changes as their broad bean plants sprouted and grew. They have been recording their observations and discussing the role of water, sunlight and soil, in plant development.
Grade 5/6
Students have been learning about microorganisms and their role in food production!
As part of their investigations, they compared different types of bread, explored the bread-making process by creating flowcharts, and conducted a yeast balloon experiment to observe how yeast produces gas to make dough rise. Watching the balloons inflate was a fun and exciting way to see microorganisms in action!
Through these activities, students gained a deeper understanding of the science behind everyday foods and how microorganisms impact our lives.
