Congratulations to all Year 7 and 9 students who completed NAPLAN over the past two weeks. Our students approached these assessments with diligence, organisation, and a strong commitment to doing their best. While this period can be stressful, our students represented themselves exceptionally well, and we are proud of their efforts. A great deal of planning and coordination goes into the smooth running of NAPLAN. A big thank you goes to Mrs Tagore, Mr Stojkoski, and all our test invigilators for their hard work in ensuring the process was seamless and successful.
This term we have celebrated both Mathematics and Humanities through their respective Learning Weeks. These events provided students with the opportunity to engage with these subjects in exciting and meaningful ways, helping them to explore their broader applications beyond the traditional classroom. A heartfelt thank you to all staff and students who contributed to the success of these weeks. We look forward to showcasing more subjects as the year continues.
TERM TWO: Languages Week – Wk 3 English/Book Week – Wk 8
TERM THREE: Science Week – Wk 5
Health Week – Wk 8
As we approach the end of the term and results begin to come in, it is important that students take time to celebrate their successes. Equally, they should reflect on areas for improvement and begin to set clear goals for the term ahead. At the heart of this process is personal organisation and effective time management—skills that are essential for academic success and personal growth. Structured and planned study is a key ingredient to every student’s success. The ability to confidently recall information under pressure is something students will encounter daily — especially during assessments. So, how can we support our students to study more effectively and reduce the stress that often comes with it?Effective diary use – Mapping out key dates and study plans can make a big difference.
Introducing the SuperMemo Model – A research-based strategy for improving memory retention.
Developed by Polish researcher Piotr Wozniak, the SuperMemo Model is designed to optimise long-term memory by identifying the ideal timing for review and repetition. The model aims to improve both retrievability (how easily information is recalled) and stability (how well it is retained over time).
Using this model alongside regular diary planning empowers students to take control of their study schedule. Not only can this enhance memory and exam performance, but it can also reduce the sense of being overwhelmed that many students feel when faced with the question, “Where do I start?”
With feedback being received and exams on the horizon for our Year 10–12 students in Term 2, now is the perfect time to introduce this strategy and establish strong, sustainable study habits.
