Gandhi House

Our Interhouse Dance and Drama teams have been dedicating their recess, lunchtimes and afterschool hours to perfect their performances for this special night. Congratulations to all involved for the passion and commitment shown to these events - and to our Year 11 and 12 student leaders for their support. A big shout-out to our remarkable Gandhi athletes who represented our school at the ACC Swimming Carnival. From all reports, we were the loudest and most spirited school there and we certainly looked right at home in C Division which is an incredible achievement for our school.

Lastly, we’re excited to be nearing Gandhi Charity Day on the last day of school this term, Friday April 11. This year, we’ll be hosting a sausage sizzle alongside the Colour Run, so make sure to get your orders in early. It’s a fantastic way to end the term while raising funds for Anglicare’s Thread Together program. Students should bring a hat, a white shirt to run in, and a clean shirt to wear back on public transport. I look forward to seeing the whole school there! Lincoln House

The active participation of Lincoln students in school and House events this term has been fantastic. We have had an excellent start, and I encourage all Lincoln students to sign up and get involved in Term Two’s School and House Week events.

Currently, our Interhouse Performing Arts teams are practising hard for the festival that will be held early in Term Two. The Drama team has been meeting after school each Thursday, with our Interhouse Dance Team practicing at lunch two to three times a week. Both are looking fantastic, and if you haven’t yet secured a ticket to the event, make sure you do as they are selling out fast!

As we move into our final fortnight of the term, I would like to remind all of Lincoln House to continue being the great students that they are and to remain respectful and engage positively with their teachers and peers. Of course, if this means they earn a few House tokens along the way, please remember to pop them in the Lincoln House Jar before we do our final count in Week 11.

Mandela House

With only two weeks of school left, it is hard to believe how quickly the term has flown by.

Over the past three weeks, Mandela House has had plenty to celebrate, with several students achieving outstanding individual successes.

At the Swimming Carnival, we had some exceptional performances in the pool:

  • Remy Williamson – U/13 Runner-Up Champion
  • Amelie Dansie – Sportsmanship Award
  • Owen Bishop – U/14 Champion
  • Boston Kiely – U/15 Champion
  • Alec Farrell – U/15 Runner-Up Champion
  • Brooke McKeon – U/16 Runner-Up Champion
  • Amelie McKeon – Open Girls Runner-Up Champion

Mandela was also well represented in the ACC Swim Team, with students from across all year groups contributing to the squad’s success. Boston Kiely swam extremely well and finished as the U/15 Boys Champion, while Amelie McKeon and Owen Bishop both finished up as Runner Up Champions in their respective year’s groups.

Looking ahead, we wish the best of luck to all our Mandela athletes competing in next week’s NWAS Carnivals. We are incredibly proud of your dedication and achievement—congratulations on earning the opportunity to represent our school!

In Week 8, St George’s hosted the World’s Greatest Shave, and we had some fearless students take part, shaving their heads for a great cause. A huge well done to Fred Keane and Eli Holbeach for their bravery and generosity in raising money for charity.

Meanwhile, our Interhouse Performing Arts Festival (IHPAF) teams have been working hard in preparation for next term’s competition. Both the Dance and Drama teams have been training with great dedication, attending lunchtime and after-school practice sessions. It’s fantastic to see so many Mandela students from different year groups getting involved and working together.

A huge thank you to all Mandela students for your ongoing enthusiasm, participation, and House spirit. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful community at St George’s and in Mandela House!
