Learning and Curriculum Primary - Stage 3

Class Spotlight 6 Blue
Year 6 recently completed their English Characterisation task. Students have been learning about the importance of developing characters to drive the action in a narrative. During English lessons, students have been using Roal Dahl’s Matilda as a mentor text. In their assessment, students were asked to create a new chapter in the book and to introduce a new character, using the STEAL framework to develop their character.
Enjoy an excerpt of some wonderful writing from 6 Blue below!
Zain was a boy, and his parents knew him as the extraordinary undercover boy. Just like any parent, Zain’s parents thought their son was something special. Zain’s parents enrolled him in Crunchem Hall Primary School which was the best school at the time. But one day a lady known as Ms Trunchbull was awarded the Principal role and everything in Crunchem Hall Primary School just went downhill from there.
The time had come for Zain to start his first day at Crunchem Hall. Like every 5-year-old, Zain was excited and curious about what school was all about. When Zain first arrived at Crunchem Hall he and his parents were stunned by the state the school was kept in. The school had a large, tall brick wall around it with a gate to enter and exit, and in the middle of that stood a tall brick building which was covered in weeds. Zain ran into school excited but lonely like all the other Kindergarten kids trying to look for a new/ first friend.
