Year 5 Camp

The much-anticipated camp finally arrived, and it did not disappoint. It was a non-stop three days of activities that had the boys making new friends and challenging themselves to tackle new obstacles. For some, this was just being away from home for the first time or travelling to the unknown.

However, once the first activity had begun it was action stations. This included:

  • high ropes in the treetops

  • the giant swing that had boys flying up to 15m in the air,

  • canoeing

  • varied success at raft building

  • ‘Lost Island’ where the boys crawled and splashed through the muddy waters.

Plus more!

At the end there were wet shoes, dirty clothes, tired bodies, lots of laughter, big smiles and stories to tell.

In Week 8, Year 5 went to camp, we had the best time. Our favourite parts of camp were the hands-on activities, especially the mud run. The food wasn't as good as mum's cooking, but we survived. The cabins were very interesting and had a funky smell, however, we still had a great time with our cabin mates, especially when it was time to sleep. Elias S

I really liked camp because there were lots of challenging things like the mud run. It was challenging but fun because it is something you wouldn't do everyday and get that muddy and I also liked the giant swing because I didn't like heights but Mr Cooper and some other teachers cheered me on and I did it. Leon I

In all, camp was such a fantastic experience. The variety of weird and scary activities was so good. The mud run was personally my favourite, The muddy wet and cold activity was insane! The food was probably the worst but since we had nothing else to eat so we ate it. In the night it was very fun being in the same room as so many of my mates in my cabin. We all eventually went to sleep. To summarise camp was a very enjoyable experience and I would love to have that experience again. Sebastian A

Camp was really fun and here is why the activities were great like the giant swing, treetops and the night activities, but there were other activities that showcased teamwork like pioneering and raft building. There was a lot of food to keep our stomach full for the night and throughout the day. Altogether the trip was really fun. Edan A

At camp I enjoyed treetops, the nerve-racking giant swing and canoeing in the lake. The mud run made my face screw up because of its smell. On the contrary, the damper from the bushcraft tasted magnificent with the maple syrup and all. The food was well cooked for over 200 kids. Pioneering was fun as my group was able to lift up our instructor and a few minutes after we lifted up Mr Simpson. Raft building taught us that you need tires to make your raft float as it creates buoyancy. James A

Year 5 Mass – Week 9

Thank you to all of the Year 5 families who were able to attend Mass last Friday. It was lovely to see the Chapel full of students, staff and family members. Mass runs each Friday morning unless there is another particular event (Mother’s/Father’s Day masses etc) and you are always welcome to attend.
