Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

Winter Trials Update

It has been a great start to the Winter season with trials happening across Rugby and Football in the Junior School. Unfortunately, the weather earlier this week only allowed for Year 5 Football to complete their trials. A reminder that Year 6 Football, 10 Years Football and all Junior School Rugby will trial on Monday afternoon, 7 April.

With Winter trials in full swing, a reminder about point 6 of the Statement on Co-curricular Involvement:

6.       Any boy playing a sport outside the College that is also offered at St Patrick’s, MUST give priority to representing the College in that sport.  NB: boys who play Rugby League outside of the College are expected to play Rugby Union for the College.

If your son is in this position and is yet to attend trials, please make sure that he sees me on Monday 7 April. He should be ready to trial that afternoon for his Winter sport. In the case of Year 5 Football, he will be allocated to a team for Round 1.

Congratulations

Last week I mentioned the efforts of Malietau Davis at the recent Little Athletics Championships. Since last week’s article, I have learnt that we had another SPC boy compete and do extremely well. Liam Dunne of 5 Green competed in the 80m Hurdles Final and placed eighth overall with a new PB. He also competed in the Triple Jump event placing tenth and in High Jump, where he placed fourth in the state and jumped a PB. Well done Liam on an outstanding competition! We look forward to seeing you out on the track later this year with the Junior School Athletics team.

Supporters' Day

A reminder that the Junior School Supporters’ Day is this Saturday 5 April. Boys are to wear their Supporter’s uniform (black polo) and College tracksuit if it is cold. Class rolls will be marked in the Powell Pavillion at 1:30 PM and boys will then move to Breen Oval to support the Second XV and then the First XV Rugby Teams. Boys should eat lunch before arriving at the College, however there will be some food available at the barbeques on the day. Let’s go St Pat’s, let’s go!

With only a short amount of time left in the term, I look forward to our last few trial sessions and the start of the season proper. From seeing some of the trials and discussing with the coaches, there is much talent in the Junior School. I am excited for the Winter season ahead.
