Focus on Melbourne Information Sessions

Over the coming couple of weeks, the University of Melbourne will continue hosting its series of Information Sessions focusing on undergraduate study and pathways information. Students will have the opportunity to deep dive into their study interests and learn more about how they can create a degree based on their passions and strengths and also learn about the many career possibilities that lie ahead.

New Bachelor of Speech Pathology Degree in 2026

The new Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at Monash University addresses a significant gap in the market for qualified speech pathologists. This course is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to help with communication and treat eating and drinking disorders.

Students will learn alongside other allied health students at the Monash Peninsula Campus who are studying physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and more. This interdisciplinary approach fosters a collaborative learning environment, preparing students for real-world healthcare settings.

The VCE prerequisite subjects are: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 35 in English (EAL) or 30 in English other than EAL, and Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematical Methods (any) or Specialist Mathematics, Physics, Health and Human Development, or Physical Education.

Key Medicine 2026 Dates

Year 12 students are reminded that the selection process for direct entry into medicine at Clayton consists of three equally weighted components:

ATAR, including adjustment factors, e.g. Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS);
UCAT ANZ (University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand) total score; and,
Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) performance.

There will be a number of rounds of interviews.

First round interviews for the Dean's Rural List (DRL)Open to any student, regardless of location, who qualifies for the DRL. Selection for interview is based on UCAT ANZ total score only. Interviews will be held on Zoom on Wednesday 26 & Thursday 27 November 2025. Invitations will be released on the afternoon of 10 October 2025. As a guide, see previous cut-off UCAT scores here.
First round interviews for Victorian students who are not on the DRL, and selection for an interview will be based on UCAT ANZ total score only. Interviews will be held on Zoom on Tuesday 2 & Wednesday 3 December 2025. Invitations will be released on 14 October 2025. As a guide, see previous cut-off UCAT scores here.
Second round interviews for Victorian students, and selection for an interview will be based on an equally weighted combination of ATAR (including adjustment factors) and UCAT ANZ total score. Interviews will be held on Zoom on Monday 5 & Tuesday 6 January 2026. Invitations will be released on 19 December 2025.
Third round interviews for Interstate Year 12 students only, and selection for interview will be based on an equally weighted combination of ATAR (including adjustment factors) and UCAT ANZ total score. Interviews will be held on Zoom on Thursday 15 January 2026. Invitations will be released on 08 January 2026.

Tourism Insights Event

Year 12 students are invited to attend an exclusive event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Students will have the opportunity to explore the MCG, which is a leading tourism venue, discover exciting career opportunities in the tourism industry.

This immersive experience includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the MCG, an interactive tourism workshop with a completion certificate, and insights from industry experts.

Attendees will also have the chance to network with industry leaders and connect with current students studying at The Hotel School. Plus, enjoy a complimentary morning tea and lunch while engaging with like-minded peers.

Difference between a Bachelor of Laws and the Juris Doctor

The Good Universities Guide provides a useful summary of the many types of law degrees that one can study for in Australia. Two such courses are:

Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

The Bachelor of Laws is typically a 4-year degree and is open to school leavers with a high enough ATAR (or equivalent) score. This undergraduate degree fulfills the academic side of qualifying for admission into legal practice.

*An undergraduate is someone who has no tertiary qualification

Juris Doctor (JD)

The Juris Doctor is a postgraduate degree that typically takes 3 years. It is equivalent to enrolling in a LLB as a graduate*. The main advantage of a JD over a LLB is that programs are designed to suit graduate students. Students should note though, that the JD normally costs far more than the LLB as, apart from generally higher tuition fees, postgraduate status means students may miss out on government financial concessions for undergraduate study.

*A graduate is someone who has a degree

Bond University Scholarships – 2026

Bond University provides a range of awards from part-fee to full-fee. Applications open on 1 May 2025, and most scholarships close towards the end of August, but the four scholarships listed below close on 31 July 2025. These four will pay up to 100% tuition remission.

Applications for the 2026 intake are now open, and students can apply and submit their applications entirely online through the Bond University website.

The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is an admissions test used by the UCAT ANZ Consortium of universities in Australia and New Zealand for their medical, dental, and clinical science degree programs.
