Congratulations to Nya Quinlan for being recognized as The FM 100.3 New England Trophies Junior Sports Star of the Week!

Nya has shown incredible talent and determination on the netball court. She was selected to represent the NSW Indigenous Under 18 Netball Squad, and in January, played in a carnival in Queensland. After an outstanding performance, Nya was then chosen to represent the Australian Indigenous Under 18 Squad, which will tour later this year!

What an achievement, Nya! We’re all incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication. Keep shining and showing the world your skills!

Our captains are at Parliament House, representing us with pride and dedication.

Brendan Moylan MP is in Sydney this week with our ASC leadership school for the Secondary Student Leadership Program hosted at NSW Parliament!

It’s an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with the parliamentary process and gain valuable leadership insights. We’re so proud to see our young leaders stepping up and making the most of this experience!

Huge congratulations to Matilda Wise (Year 9) and Ariana Wood (Year 10) for making it to the second and final round of the Schools Spectacular Featured Dancer auditions!

 Huge congratulations to Soph

Soph’s Amazing Achievements! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that Soph has been selected for the NSW All Schools 19’s Cricket team after competing in the Tuggerah All Schools trial! What an incredible achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder!

The team will be heading to Kingscliff in September for the prestigious ‘Cricket Exchange,’ and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Soph on this exciting journey. Keep shining, Soph!

We are beyond proud of you!

Here’s a look back at some of Soph’s recent achievements:

First Photo: Taken at the CHS Softball Champs in Tamworth, where Soph earned the North West Player of the Carnival/MVP medal! This was her first year playing in the competition, as previous clashes with All Schools Cricket had kept her out. The girls had an amazing week, and Soph truly shone throughout the tournament!

Second Photo: Captured at the CHS Cricket Champs in Raby at the end of 2024, where Soph was awarded the North West Player of the Carnival/MVP medal and also became the highest overall run scorer at the carnival! On top of that, she received the Alex Blackwell individual points core award for North West and was named Player of the Carnival. What an outstanding achievement!

Soph’s hard work, dedication, and passion for her sports continue to impress, and we couldn’t be more proud of everything she’s accomplished.

She was also recently selected for the NSW CHS First XI (only one team chosen this year) and will be competing at the All Schools carnival in March.

Soph, you continue to inspire us all, and we can’t wait to see where your hard work takes you next!

Luke Rees Represents at the Minister for Education's Student Council!

Year 10 student Luke Rees, accompanied by SRC Coordinator Mr. Lane, travelled to Parramatta for the Annual General Meeting and Induction of the Minister for Education's Student Council. This marks Luke's second year on the council, where he plays an important role in representing the views of public-school students in New England directly to Minister for Education, Prue Car.

The week was packed with opportunities for learning and leadership! After arriving on Tuesday, Luke met with fellow student leaders and then headed to the Melanoma Institute on Wednesday. Here, the group participated in a Sun Safety workshop where they heard from a melanoma survivor, learned about the risks of UV radiation, and worked on developing their presentation skills by pitching the importance of sun safety. This year, our ASC SRC will be working on initiatives to help make our school more sun safe!

The group visited Parliament House, where they met Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Prue Car, along with Secretary of the Department of Education Murat Dizdar. Luke even had the chance to address the council from the Lower House dispatch box!

The day concluded with a Q&A session with the Deputy Premier.

On Friday, the students took part in a co-design process focusing on the important issue of drug and alcohol education in schools.

Luke was an outstanding representative of our school throughout the week and built meaningful connections with student leaders from across the state. He’ll continue to participate in Regional Forums to discuss key educational issues throughout the year. We’re incredibly proud of Luke’s contributions and leadership!

ASC Students Shine at the 2025 KidsLit Quiz!

12 talented Year 7 students represented our school at the Armidale Heat of the 2025 KidsLit Quiz, showcasing their impressive knowledge and passion for children's literature!

A total of 11 schools participated, with 24 teams competing in the quiz.

Our ASC teams did an amazing job, securing first and third places! The winning team will now head to Sydney in June to compete in the National Quiz — what an incredible achievement!

We’re so proud of how our students represented ASC and their love for reading. A huge congratulations to all involved!

ASC Students Shine at Schools Spectacular Auditions!

Three of our incredibly talented students—Alma Kanety, Nahri Slater-Saunders, and Nyla Chemane—attended the Schools Spectacular Featured Artists workshop and auditions in Tamworth. They’re among 120 students from across NSW who were selected from hundreds of video auditions, and they’re now competing to make it into the top 40 candidates! These students will be matched with repertoire for the 2025 Schools Spectacular performance this November.

In addition to Alma, Nahri, and Nyla, Armidale Secondary College will also have students participating in dance and choir items, as well as providing technical support behind the scenes.

We wish all our ASC students the very best of luck as they audition for this prestigious event! We’re so proud of your hard work and dedication.

ASC Students Shine at North West Swimming Trials!

34 of our dedicated ASC students spent two days at the pool timekeeping for the North West Primary and Secondary Swimming Trials. Their support was absolutely essential to the success of these events, and we’re so grateful for their role in making everything run smoothly. Huge thanks to all our amazing students for being fantastic ambassadors for our school!

On Tuesday, our very own ASC swimmers took to the pool for the North West Swimming Trials. A big congratulations to all our swimmers, and best of luck to those who have progressed to the CHS carnival in Sydney at the end of the term!

A special shout-out to Hollie Manning, who broke two records on the day!

Well done, Hollie!

On 4th April, the Open Boys Football team took on Guyra Central School in the CHS Knockout, winning a dominant 12-1 victory! (Apologies, no photo from the game!)

Then, on 8th April, our U15 Boys team faced off against O’Connor Catholic School in the Bill Turner Cup. It was an intense match, with ASC fighting back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in Golden Goal extra time! Incredible grit, determination, and some brilliant skills from the team!

ASC Shines at CHS Swimming!

What an amazing week for ASC at the CHS Swimming Championships!  There were so many personal best times and impressive finishes across the board.

A huge shoutout to the 13-year girls relay team, who represented the North West Region in the Invitational Relay, finishing in a very close 4th place! And let’s not forget about the 14-year boys relay team who made it to the final, showing incredible teamwork and determination.
