Principal's News

Dear Armadale Community,
We would like to acknowledge our amazing teachers for their efforts into ensuring that Family Conferences held this week were informative and promoted that sense of partnership between home and school. Many parents have commented on how valuable they found the conferences to be and, as a school, we look forward to strengthening this partnership to optimise the learning of each child. Regarding formal reporting, you will receive a written report next term but please make a time to speak to your child’s teacher if you would like information regarding your child prior to this.
Family Conferences will be held again late in term 3.
Welcome Picnic
A big thanks to our wonderful PFA team headed by Tam and Sam who coordinated the Welcome Picnic last Friday. It was wonderful to see so many families take the opportunity to engage with others in the school in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. We look forward to many more fun events throughout the year.
STEM
Please take the time to watch the video presentation explaining what STEM looks like at our school.

This acronym stands for: science, technology, engineering and maths. Funds raised last year through the Read-a-Thon, have enabled us to create a STEM room whereby all the children are using this year. We have partnered with an external company, INSPIRE ROBOTICS, whereby children in Prep-4 will engage in a 5-week robotics program and children in Year 5/6 will participate in a 10-week program where they will create Soccer Robots.
The STEM room has also been well stocked with resources and STEM sessions for each class to use. Zaim worked diligently to put classroom packs together and we look forward to seeing and hearing what the children discover and create.
This term we have the Year 1s and 2s participating in the INSPIRE ROBOTICS program.
The children look forward to their Wednesday sessions. They are in the process of creating a robot collaboratively. They are following the process of:
- ASK – Define the problem.
- IMAGINE – Brainstorm solutions.
- PLAN – Consider how to best solve the problem.
- CREATE – Construct your solution.
- TEST – Determine how well your solution works.
- IMPROVE – Make your solution better.
