Trades

Stephen Prangnell

Head of Trades

With Stephen Prangnell out until possibly the end of term, once again I'm (Ben Elliott) reporting on the progress and happening in Trades.

Year 12 Projects

It’s great to see the Year 12 students progressing on their major projects this early in the year and to keep in mind that they need to use the limited time available wisely as graduation will be here before they know it.

Project permission slips need to be signed and returned promptly if they have not been returned already, and most students have ordered materials and parts to ensure they continue to progress on their projects.

It would be appreciated if parents could discuss their child's project progress to ensure timely completion by the end of the Term 3 is achieved.

Year 11

Year 11 students are progressing through their tasks with great enthusiasm. Reports from staff are that everyone is making good progress in their activities.

Automotive students have been working on a variety of skill sets. So far this includes adjusting tappets, wheel bearings and cooling systems.

In Engineering, most students have made significant progress with towards completing their Toolboxes and many have progressed onto their Folding Shovels.

Construction students are making Step Stools, developing skills with a variety of hand and power tools.

In Furnishing students have finished their joints and are halfway through the construction of their Small Cabinets. On completing of the small cabinet, students will start to plan their major projects.

It is now that parents and students should start to have discussions as to what their daughter or son will make as their major project.
