As I mentioned in my first newsletter article, we are really focusing on literacy this year.
Students in Years 7-9 have now been tested and we currently have some data to determine their literacy levels. Your daughter should have by now selected a novel that matches her reading proficiency. Starting next week, the students in Years 7-9, will spend 10 minutes each morning at school reading the chosen book related to their reading level. I encourage you to motivate your daughter to read at home.
After finishing the book, students are asked to log onto the reading program and test themselves on it. This will provide valuable data to assess if their reading level has improved. The collaboration between home and school in this reading journey is expected to positively impact the intellectual development of our students.
