We’re now over half way through the term and students are well into their academic studies and co-curricular pursuits. It is important that students are managing their time and workload effectively to stay on top of their work and stress levels. In pastoral care, students have been doing activities related to academic organisation - creating weekly planners, daily schedules and assessment task trackers. You can find the resources on the Canvas Pastoral Care page for each grade.
Year 11 and 12 have also undertaken sessions with Elevate Education that supported time management and prioritising. Students found these sessions extremely valuable. These resources are also on the Canvas Page.
Whilst it is a busy time for assessments, it is important to also take time for breaks, social interactions, exercise, sleep and healthy eating to maintain a balanced approach.
In Pastoral Care each Wednesday, students complete a weekly PIVOT check in. This check in is a way to monitor student wellbeing and progress, and also a means for them to let teachers know how they are tracking, as well as find links to support strategies. For any students that would like further support, we encourage them to reach out to their Pastoral care teacher or myself. The College also has a school counsellor that can be referred to.
Students also complete a weekly gratitude and reflection in their College diary as a way to reflect on their positive experiences, thoughts and feelings. We encourage you to open dialogue with your daughters and look at their diaries to show support and interest in this wellbeing activity.
It was great to see student participation in our Open Day as guides and Department assistants, as well as keen support of International Women’s Day. There was a sea of purple and green, engagement in Pastoral Care activities and donating money towards charity ReLove.
Where you have any queries or questions, don’t hesitate to contact your daughter’s Pastoral Care teacher, coordinator, subject teachers and myself. The active role you play as parents and guardians communicating with us is invaluable to student progress and being part of the College community.
