Good luck tennis team

Wishing our tennis team – Pearl, Oscar, Xavier, Lilly, Judd, Quinn, Makayla, Zoe, Hamish, Lou, Hannah and Claudia – all the very best in Division Tennis this Wednesday.  A big thank you to Bec for being our support adult. We are excited to have the first interschool sporting event kicking off so early and hope they have a great day.

Hockey Victoria Clinics

Some of our Grade 1 and 2’s were lucky enough to be treated to a Hockey Victoria clinic last Friday. Students were given a chance to practise their stick and ball skills while learning some basic rules and techniques. We’d like to thank Hockey Victoria for their continued support and encourage anyone interested in taking up the sport to scan the below barcode for further information.

Division Lawn Bowls Tryouts:

We are excited to announce the tryout dates (lunchtimes) for the Grade 5/6 Division Lawn Bowls. 19, 22, 26 and 29th February at the Buninyong Bowls Club.  Students are encouraged to attend all tryout sessions to showcase their talents.

Please make sure your child brings their P.E. shoes on these days as no shoes that mark the green will be allowed.  If you have any questions, please get in touch with Claire Morris (claire.morris@education.vic.gov.au).

SSV State Team Nominations:

The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victoria’s emerging student athletes to participate in the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinates the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

If your daughter/son is passionate about any of the sports listed below and meets the following criteria, please contact Claire Morris (claire.morris@education.vic.gov.au) with all relevant information at least two weeks prior to SSV nomination closing dates.

  • Australian Football 12 Years and Under Boys
  • Basketball 12 Years and Under Girls
  • Basketball 12 Years and Under Boys
  • Cricket 12 Years and Under Boys
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years and Under Boys
  • Netball 12 Years and Under Girls

Please note that other sports are available.  Please check the SSV website.

Students must be nominated by their school. Parents CAN’T nominate students because each school can only nominate a maximum of three students for each sport.  We will consider each nomination and contact parents if we believe their child meets the nomination criteria.  Only highly talented students will be nominated.

Criteria:

  • Students must have represented their school/club at an extremely high level including Regional/State.
  • Been selected in a representative team (i.e. for Ballarat or a Region)
  • Received a league award (not just a club or coaches award) in their chosen sport (Best and Fairest for the competition, highest goalkicker, etc)

Please read the Team Vic Information Sheet on the sport page before nominating your son/daughter. This document contains important information on the SSV Team Vic Program, in relation to eligibility, registration, multiclass, selection, participation costs, and financial assistance.

Athletics Day recording

Over the next 6 weeks, Grade 3-6 students will be participating in athletics activities where we will be recording results (for either heats or as their final result) for our Athletics Day.  If your child misses a P.E. session, please touch base with me if they wish to complete this event for results prior to Athletics Day.  We will not be taking any results after the 8 March 2024.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
