Principal Report

Mrs Deborah Crane

Dear PVNPS Community

Week 4. The last few weeks have gone by very quickly. We are well and truly into the flow of school and hopefully you have established your routines for coming to school on time. It is highly important that your child/ren get to school by the soft start bell and therefore ready to start the first session which begins at 9am.

It is lovely to see and hear the positive greetings from one another every morning as I walk around on before school yard duty. It is great to see smiling, happy faces who are engaged and ready for the day of learning and fun.

I am very pleased to see that students are wearing their hats and those that have forgotten it are coming to the office to get a spare one. Please remember to provide and check that your child has their HAT.

Uniform. It is necessary and school policy for students to wear uniform. There will be a second hand uniform sale on Monday 18th March starting at 2.15-3.30pm. It will be held down past the bike shed. Cash or eftpos. If anyone is experiencing hardship for uniforms, please email me or let your classroom teacher know and we will see how we can help.

Unfortunately, due to the weather this week, we decided to postpone our Welcome Picnic. We will look at our term organiser and see when we can plan another date. STAY TUNED!

Ms McAlister, Mr Gagliardi and myself are not always available at the exact time you may come in or ring the school. We are often at meetings, in classrooms and we do have a variety of roles and responsibilities. However, in saying this, Mrs K at reception desk will take your message and she informs us of your need to speak with one of us. However, at times, this will not be the same day. Please be patient, as we will always get back to you in a timely manner.

CROSS YOUR FINGERS & TOES everyone!

Last year I submitted a proposal for a grant to makeover our basketball court and to build a permanent shelter over it. It looks like we may be in the final round of considerations .... but just for the hard shelter - but this would be awesome for our students, PE lessons, whole school assemblies... etc... You all will be the first to know if we get approved.

  • If anyone knows of any further grant opportunities that we can apply for, please let me know.

Last newsletter I put in a photo of my four specialists. This week I am highlighting them again as you just have to check out their profiles. They do make good reading.

I believe we have an amazing specialist program, including AUSLAN which is taught online with the classroom teachers. Our specialists programs are highly hands on and engaging.

Mr L, STEM teacher, is in the process of investigating the costs of purchasing lab coats for our students to wear when they attend STEM each week. How awesome of an experience would this be for our budding young 'scientists, engineers, mathematicians.... etc'

Mr Rees has already had SEDA students for clincis with our students and our Interschool sports is off to a great start. Mr Rees was able to secure some free basketballs last week which will be very much used.

Joel, is now back in the MUSIC room. It is great to see that Joel purchased music books for the students so that they can learn to read and write music. There has been many positive comments from students about their enjoyment in their music classes.  Last week as I was walking through a Prep 2025 tour, we went into a music lesson and there was a class of year 2 students playing on xylophones with 'London Bridge is Falling Down'. They were all engaged and having a terrific time.

Mrs B, is busy with students in the art room with art elements of colour and line. The students have been creating some amazing art pieces and I cannot wait to see some finished items.
