During Term One, the Year 7 cohort have been learning all about the Mercy Story, with a large part of that story dedicated to Catherine McAuley. Catherine was filled with love, energy, compassion, strength & dedication during her time as a Mercy Sister, which the students have come to learn.
An incredible part of her legacy is when Catherine was dying, many of the sisters gathered around her bedside to say good-bye and to pray the prayers for the dying. Not long before she died, at the end of a long day of waiting, she said to one of the sisters: “Be sure you have a comfortable cup of tea for them when I am gone.” Ever since, the comfortable cup of tea has been a symbol of the warm and caring relationships which were at the heart of Catherine McAuley’s Mercy vision.
The students were asked to design their own “cup of tea”, filling it with words that represent Catherine’s qualities and actions. This resulted in this beautiful display, thank you Year 7!

Term One has called the Year 8 cohort to learn about the first sacrament; Baptism. They have been working diligently to understand its purpose, the symbols within it & the initiation and welcoming it represents for the Catholic community. We have been lucky enough to have many students bring images of their own baptisms into class & to consolidate our knowledge. We used the Chapel to mock baptise a baby doll, to break down the ceremony & its parts in a hands-on way. The students greatly enjoyed being in the chapel, and seeing the roles of parents, godparents & priests on this special day. We would like to thank Ms Cowin for letting us borrow her daughter's doll for the experience.
