In preparation for our Women’s Wellbeing Week, the Art Academy students helped create the empowering wall of hands that will be used to write positive and encouraging words on Monday 4th March. Thank you to Ms Emma Spreckley, Ms Loucilla Sgambellone, Ms Lorelle Evans and Mr Josh Callaghan for their assistance.

The Academy Music Ensembles have been busy providing wonderful entertainment and inspirational music on many occasions already in 2024. The Pop Band entertained Year 7 parents, students and guests at the welcome BBQ, The Academy Choir, Isabella Strings, Concert Band and AMICCI performed for the Caritas Project Compassion Launch as well as the Graduate Teachers commissioning Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral.
All Academy students are welcome to join a music ensemble:
Academy Choir rehearse on Monday at lunchtime in the Drama Studio
Leonora Strings rehearse on Monday at lunchtime in the Chapel
Junior Band rehearse on Tuesday at lunchtime in the Hall
All new members are welcome and I look forward to seeing many new musicians attending these ensembles, no auditions are required, just come along and have fun, making music with fellow students.

The 2024 College Musical is Chicago. Chicago is being performed at Her Majesty’s theatre this year. We applied for and were given permission to also perform this musical at the same time.
Stephen Valeri, Principal Cast Member of Chicago, from Chicago the musical, conducted a workshop with the Academy cast, imparting invaluable insights into character development, stage presence, and vocal techniques. His presence provided a rare opportunity for direct , mentorship and learning from someone with firsthand experience in a professional production currently touring in Australia. Stephen’s professional expertise and passion for the craft inspired our students, leaving a lasting impact on their performance skills and theatrical journey.
Working with a professional cast member fosters a sense of inspiration and motivation, encouraging students to strive for excellence in their own performances. This hands-on experience not only enhances their understanding of the theatrical process but also instils a sense of confidence and professionalism that extends beyond the stage into various aspects of their lives. Overall, the workshop served as a valuable educational experience that enriched the students' theatrical knowledge and greatly enhanced their growth as performers. We feel incredibly lucky for the opportunity to learn from such a seasoned specialist. It was a workshop that truly brought the razzle dazzle of Chicago to life for all involved!
