Before, After and Holiday Care @ St Mary's

Hello Families,

We have been having and amazing time at the service over the last two weeks and we are so excited to share all our fun with you! Week 5 and 6 played out as follows:

Week 5 – ‘Wild West’

This week we immersed ourselves in the streets of the Wild West! We spent our time designing our very own cowboy boots and making some bolo ties. A fan favourite activity this week was making sheriffs badges as the children were able to turn them into “real badges” that they would wear. We also spent some time using different craft mediums to make mosaic cacti, some children chose the use paper while others chose to use beads, buttons, string or even sequins. Drawing away from this week’s direct theme, we have also noticed that the children have spent a great period engaging in boardgames with one another. Currently, the children’s favourite game is ‘Don’t Fall Down’ and ‘Topple’. Board games are a great way for children from different year levels to connect. Another activity that the children have been thoroughly enjoying is making friendship bracelets, still in lieu of the Taylor Swift Concert.

Week 4 – ‘Weather Wonders’

This week we are imagining ourselves in many different forms of weather seeing all that we can come up with. Monday was a Pupil Free Day and we had lots of children here for the day which was lots of fun. We enjoyed many craft activities, baked cupcakes, and had lots of time out on the Playground. Aside from this, directly to our theme we have enjoyed many craft activities such as making rainbow fans, sun bookmarks and paper snowflakes. Later, this week we are looking at undertaking a few science experiments whereby we try and form our very own snow and create some cloud dough. We are so excited to see the results of these experiments and judge whether it is successful or not. It is amazing exploring different forms of weather and feeling the different textures of the ‘snow’ and ‘cloud dough’. The children have been encouraged to use their imagination and consider all things weather over the course of this week.

Sun Safety

As always being in Term 1, children must wear hats when engaging in outdoor play. Can I please ask parents and guardians that you remind your child to bring their hat over to TheirCare so that we can go outside and enjoy all the sun has to offer safely! If preferred we have a tub at the service, your child is welcome to bring a spare sun-safe hat that is named that they keep at the service and use throughout the Year! Sunscreen will be applied before going outside every day, if your child requires a particular sunscreen, please do not hesitate to let me know so that I can accommodate for this!

2024 April Holiday Program

The upcoming Holiday Program is finalised, and bookings are now active via the FullyBooked Website. We are so excited to immerse ourselves in our newest Holiday Program Theme ‘Art Attack’ and even more excited to head out on our excursion days! These holidays we are heading out to the Movies, a Children’s Comedy Festival, and the Melbourne Zoo. Our In-House days consist of making BathBombs, Cooking, Dance Parties and LOADS more.
