Students will receive a ‘lesson time’ sticker they are being asked to write down the time and location of their lesson each week. This ensures that clashes of events or off-site appointments can be spotted in advance and tutors notified accordingly. Stickers are available from tutors or Mrs Sinclair.
This program has begun with great enthusiasm 4. We are looking forward to seeing how these students progress on their chosen instrument. Please find further information about instrument set up and basic notes on the YEAR 4 HUB PAGE. Any issues with instruments, please send back to school ASAP.
In Music we have been using our speaking and singing voices as well as tracking and vocalising different shapes. After learning the chant ‘Connie, Connie in the tub, she forgot to use the plug. Oh my goodness, oh my soul! There goes Connie down the hole’ – we experimented with using our voices in different ways to reflect the sound of Connie disappearing down the plug hole. The students then created their own shapes using pipe cleaners and experimented with tracing and vocalising the sound – there were lots of interesting sound shapes made!
Year 1 students have been listening to and experimenting with the sounds made by percussion instruments and classifying them into the categories of SHAKE, SCRAPE and STRIKE. We sang a song keeping the beat with these instruments and experimented with playing them in different ways.
