A message from our Assistant Principal

School Captains for 2026

It is with great pleasure and pride that I introduce our School Captains officially to you in this newsletter. As part of the school leadership team, I have the honour of working with the School Captains each year. Sid, Rhys, Bonnie, Annika, Cressy and Jack are taking on their roles with maturity and enthusiasm. They represent what MPPS is truly all about – respect, kindness and gratitude. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to have such a wonderful group of students leading our school in 2026!

Hello parents / guardians and staff,

I’m very excited to be one of your school captains for 2026! I’ve had the amazing opportunity of being a student at MPPS for nearly seven years now, and I couldn’t be more excited for the year ahead. 

I’ve had two older siblings who have both graduated from this primary school and have enjoyed being a part of the school community. My youngest sibling is in year four already.

This year I’m looking forward to leading school assemblies, and the opening of the new building with a full-sized basketball court, new classrooms and finally more toilets!

During my time at MPPS, I have been a part of Student Voice Council since year 2, a Maths Olympiad since year 4 and Art Enrichment since last year. I also have received the Citizen of the Month award for July 2023 and the Kindness and Gratitude awards.

I have enjoyed being a part of the school community as everyone here has been very supportive and kind to me every step of the way.

I hope to see you this year!

Dear MPPS families and staff,

Hello my name is Jack MacDonald and I am one of your six school captains this year. I have been at this school since the start of year two when I came from the USA. I have many lifelong friends and learnt so much from the MPPS teachers and staff. 

I have received the Citizen of the Month and the gratitude and respect awards.

This year all my siblings go to Middle Park. I have one brother (Oscar) in prep and two sisters (Camilla and Maggie) in year three and four.

I love sports, especially basketball and football. I support the Melbourne Demons, and for the NBA, I support the New York Knicks.

I also have no free days after school during the week. I play piano and am a member of the school rock band. I am a member of Art Enrichment and I also am in the Maths Olympiad. 

I lived in New York, USA for six years. I supported and still support the Yankees in MLB (Major League Baseball).

As school captains we will run assemblies, value assemblies, lead school tours with Tim on Fridays and are a part of the student voice council. I’m super excited for the future with this amazing community and I’ve had a great time so far.

Hello my name is Annika and I am one of six MPPS school captains for 2026.

This year as school captain I am very excited to run school assemblies, school tours and the opening of the new building which will have a new bathroom, two classrooms and a competition sized basketball court.

I have been a student at Middle Park Primary School for 6 years now and halfway through my 7th year. I have one sibling who also attended Middle Park Primary School since prep. He’s currently in year 9 and doing very well.

Middle Park has been an amazing school with all my ups and downs.

During my time here, I have enjoyed being in Art Enrichment for my second year, I have won a respect award, participated in the winter playoffs with a team of 11, Student Voice Council and learning the violin since grade one and playing at assemblies and being a member of pop band playing the base guitar with my friends.

I am very grateful to be a school captain and I’m very excited for this year.

Dear MPPS families and staff,

My name is Rhys and I am one of your six school captains for 2026. I have been at MPPS for seven years since my first day in prep. I also joined the rock band on my first day as a bass guitarist and I am still in that same role to this day. 

I had a brother at this school who is now in grade eight. He used to be the Student Voice Council Leader.

My brother and I introduced casual clothes on your birthday. We started it when we were in South Africa, we noticed my cousins were allowed to wear casual clothes on their birthday. We decided we could bring it to our school as well and it has been an enormous success since. 

I am extremely excited for the new opening of the building that is being built in exchange for the two basketball courts. It will have a full sized basketball court and some classrooms.

It will be finished by late June/July and I can’t wait to try out the new area for myself.

As school captains, we will be hosting most assemblies and joining in with school tours and values assemblies.

Dear MPPS families and staff,

Hello my name is Sid and I am one of the six school captains for 2026. I have been at MPPS since prep and have learned so much from all my teachers. I have also made lots of good friends. 

I have won Citizen of the month and the Gratitude award.

All my siblings have been to MPPS. My older brother was a house captain, and I also have an older sister and a younger sister (Alfie, Sadie and Flo). My mum was also a teacher at MPPS for 18 years.

I play lots of sports such as footy, basketball and cricket. I am really excited for Tommy Lahiff playoff this year. I hope we can win it again. 

I think the new basketball court will be great. I can’t wait to play on it. I also support the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA and the Hawks and a little bit of the Melbourne Demons (my dad works there).

I’m so excited for this year as school captain. It is so much fun running assemblies, helping out at the values assemblies, helping with the school tours and going to student voice council.

Hello family members, my name is Bonnie Lott, and I’m one of six School Captains at MPPS for 2026!

I first started at MPPS in Prep and have stayed ever since then. Over these six years, I have never enjoyed school so much before. Middle Park makes learning fun, engaging and worthwhile.

For my time at MPPS, I have participated in Student Voice Council in year 4 and in year 6. Maths Olympiad in year 4, 5 and 6, and Art Enrichment for two years now. I have also had the honour of raising and lowering the flags twice a week. The fun shared in all of these programs is amazing. It is perfect for me.

I have enjoyed them very much, especially being a part of our community.

To top all that, I have received the Respect values award as well as the Gratitude award. Next, I am hoping for the Kindness award.

This year I am looking forward to the opening of the new building and run many more school assemblies there as well. The new building will be so much fun with a new basketball court, toilets and new classrooms. I sense a lot more special memories in the new building.

For my seventh year at MPPS in year 6, School Captain has brought out things in me I have never seen before. I feel as if I have become independent from my brother who graduated in 2024. Having my older brother leave was hard to watch, I was in year 4 when he left, and I definitely did not feel ready to be alone in a school I didn’t know without him.

Now it’s been two years and with a new and confident me.

Now I am very excited for the year ahead in high school, but I will always remember what it is like at MPPS.
