Principal Message

Dear Families,
Curriculum Day: This Friday 5th June – Student Free Day, followed by the King’s Birthday on Monday (No School) – Enjoy the long weekend.
TheirCare: Supervision is available this Friday from TheirCare. Please book in if you need childcare on Friday.
Family Holidays: If your family are heading off on a holiday during the term, could you please let the class teacher know in advance or as soon as possible. This helps teachers plan and make various adjustments in their day.
Interviews: We have Parent-Teacher meetings scheduled for early Term 3 (more info to be distributed later) but we also have a few staff that will be on Long Service Leave. These teachers will coordinate their own bookings with families for these meetings. We hope all families can book a time and have a productive conversation to set up a successful Semester 2 of learning.
Policies: The Department of Education have a range of policies that we operate under. We have many of them on our school website that we promote by “Policy of the Week.” If you have any feedback about a policy, please email the school and we can send your feedback to the Department for their consideration.
Year 3 Camp: Next week, the Year 3’s venture to Anglesea for two days and a night. This is an important developmental step for many of the Year 3 students. Some students will be super excited and looking forward to this experience, while others will be experiencing nerves and maybe anxiety. We encourage families to speak positively about camp, focus on the positives, and then celebrate the success when students return. Please ensure all forms and medication notes are returned for teachers to collate. Looking forward to hearing about their camp.
May Day: Yet another fantastic social event for the families of OGPS held last weekend. I hope that all involved had a wonderful time and on behalf of the community, THANK YOU to the P&F team, led by Fi Brown & Cat Heil, who have built on the success of previous gatherings, top host this event. As Principal of this school, I am so proud of how our community is so well connected with each other. It is a strength of the school with many new families wanting to be a part of this. Congratulations again and thanks to all who supported the event.
Wet weather: The forecast isn’t great for outside play and sport… Sometimes we must call a wet weather timetable which means more inside and quiet play. If you have any games conducive to wet weather play that you would like to offer them to the classroom teachers, please drop them in and ask the teachers if they would like to use them. These winter months may see Mr Horbury have to postpose or cancel some events in the sporting areas, such as Lightning Prem which has been postponed for Year 5 & 6 students until next week. We will do our best to communicate these changes as quickly as possible when the decision makers (other event coordinators that Mr Horbury works with) notify us.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
