Along with over 2 million people across Australia, our students participated in National Simultaneous Storytime 2026 by reading Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller.
Written by former football players, Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minot, this story was read aloud on the big screen by these men, followed by a quick insight into how Jake created the main character Luna Roo.
Students were captivated by the story, eagerly joining in to shout "goooooooaaaal" when the time called for it and cheering as Luna Roo's team celebrated their victory.
The story told not just of winning, but of believing in yourself when others do not and having determination and grit to never give up no matter what the odds are.
Following storytime, students moved around rotation activities with their teachers to work on their own soccer skills with relays and small defense exercises, challenged their soccer knowledge with a Kahoot and reflected on what makes a good team with a Luna Roo craft and soccer boot design task.
It was wonderful to hear the chorus of cheers, laughs and challenges students issued one another as they completed the rotations. A fabulous afternoon that mixed storytelling and physical exercise!
