PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are now deep into Term 2, and I am delighted to share some of the wonderful opportunities our students have engaged in this term. Our commitment to inspiring and supporting every student to achieve their full potential remains at the heart of all we do. This term, our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program has offered a range of enriching experiences. Students have participated in targeted withdrawal groups, focusing on enhancing skills in mathematics and writing. Leadership opportunities have been a highlight as well, including involvement in the 2168 Children’s Parliament, Leadership by the Cowpasture, and our School Ambassador Program. Additionally, many students have embraced technology and communication through content creation and public speaking workshops at the Kimberwalli Aboriginal Education Centre, podcasting activities at the Lizard Log Environmental Education Centre, and several sporting achievements with multiple children representing Green Valley PSSA in zone teams and carnivals. Looking ahead, we are excited to offer further opportunities in visual arts, public speaking, and spelling bee competitions to name a few.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our small but dedicated team of volunteers who form our school’s P&C. Their tireless efforts have been instrumental in supporting many events this term, including the delightful Muffins with Mum morning, a very successful Mother’s Day stall, second-hand uniform sales, gelato and ice block fundraising, and a cookie dough drive. Currently, they are enthusiastically planning an upcoming disco, promising to be a fun event for our community. All funds raised by the P&C are directly reinvested into the school to enhance facilities and resources for your children. I warmly invite you to join the next P&C meeting on Wednesday, 17th June at 7pm. New faces and fresh ideas are always most welcome.

As always, traffic safety during pick-up and drop-off times remains a priority. Please remember to use the kiss and ride zone correctly—stay in your vehicle, use the designated area, and always be mindful of pedestrians crossing. We encourage all families to use the pedestrian crossing to set a safe example to your children; modelling safe behaviours is essential for their learning and wellbeing. Your adherence to these simple rules helps keep our children safe during these busy times.

Teachers are currently working hard on preparing student academic reports, which will be sent home on Friday, 26th June. These reports provide valuable insights into your child’s achievements and areas for growth. Please take the time to read through the report carefully and discuss your child’s successes and future learning goals with them. If you would like to arrange a time to speak to your child’s teacher(s) regarding their report, please contact the school office to make an appointment.

Finally, I want to remind families of the importance of on-time attendance. School starts promptly at 8:55am, and students are expected to be at school by this time to ensure they do not miss valuable learning opportunities. To keep up to date with all upcoming excursions and events, please stay connected to the Sentral Parent Portal, especially as the term's final weeks are packed with exciting activities.
