Grade 1 & 2

Term 4 - Week 9

The Christmas and holiday buzz has certainly begun in the 1/2 learning community.

It is the time of Advent, a special time of waiting and preparing for the birth of Jesus and the celebration of Christmas. Each of our learning spaces made an Advent Wreath to use each morning during prayer time. As we light the first candle of the Advent wreath, we reflect on the Hope that the Christmas story brings to the world — a hope that can inspire us all to be kind, generous, and filled with joy. May we share this hope with each other as we start our Advent journey together! During week 2 we light the candle of Peace, praying for peace in our lives, our community and our world.

During weeks 8 to 10, each of the Year 1/2 classes have or will visit the nursing home where they give the residents a family drawing and a Christmas card. Our students sat and talked to the residents. Some sang songs to them or just listened to them. It was beautiful to see the children put smiles on their faces.

As our school year is quickly coming to an end, we would like to wish you all a joyous and Blessed Christmas, a happy and healthy New Year and restful and safe holidays.

Best wishes to you all from Heather, Claire, Anne, Mollie and Michelle.
