2024 SPORT
2024 has been one hell of a year for sports and I for one have enjoyed every minute of it.
The students have all been amazing and I can’t fault their dedication, effort and sportsmanship. I could not be more proud of how well they represented Heidelberg Primary School.
The grade 6 ISS sports teams in term 2 and term 3 ended the year with 7 x 1st place or 2nd place pennants. A huge achievement considering there are 11 x 1st and 2nd place pennants played for. The girls soccer, boys tee-ball and girls tennis teams got to represent the school at the Division Finals and although they didn’t make it through to Region, they were very competitive in their matches.
2024 was the most successful year for our basketball teams. Grade 6 girls finished runners up for a second year in a row to Rosanna Golf Links in the District finals, our grade 3/4 boys team made it to the State Qualifying final at Region Hoop Time, losing by 4 to Banyule and the grade 3/4 girls went all the way to State by going unbeaten in the previous rounds. They girls got to play at the State Basketball Centre and meet NBL & WNBL players on the day. It was tough group the girls were drawn in, with the eventual 1st place and 2nd place teams both in our group. The girls finished the day 2-3.
At the start of the year we had students swimming at the State Championships, Ruby D once again running at the State Cross Country and in term 3 & 4 we had students representing HPS in relays and individual events at Division and Regional Athletics. We also had Aoife M representing the school in the Team VIC footy team, 2nd year in a row we have had students representing HPS in a Team VIC side.
It has been another busy year but it has been fantastic. Thank you all for your support. I hope you all have a happy and safe holidays.
Below is a montage of photos from different sports events this year.
