A note from Mr Jackson
Thanks to so many who have contributed to ensure that the last week flows smoothly. Thanks to all who are ensuring a calm and planned finalisation to the end of year!
Instrumentalist Soiree
Thursday 12 December at 4pm
We are looking forward to hearing some of our instrumentalists entertain us this afternoon. Some will strum guitars, while others tickle the ivory or glide over the violin. This is a chance also for students who may be interested in joining in lessons in 2025 to taste a little of the experience.
Parker Joins Prep Session
Thursday 12 December
A special thanks to all those students, teachers and parents who have met Parker, our Therapy/Support Dog over the last few weeks. Our area sessions have been a valuable time to familiarise our community to our latest enrolment. Today Parker visited the Prep area. He was particularly excited to meet our Parker in Prep K and realise that they both were 6 years old! We look forward to him being around a little more in 2025.
North East Link Community Fund Grant Approval Announced
We were excited this week to receive news that we have been successful in a grant application for $20,000 to support the resurfacing of the basketball court with synthetic turf. This space is utilised routinely during physical education lessons, as well as at recess and lunch for play. On the weekends, you can find members of our community utilising this space as well.
Unfortunately, we are still short!!! The cost to resurface the court is $55,000 leaving a significant shortfall. With FORPS Fundraising estimated to be close to $20,000 this year, we will still be short $15,000! We are hoping there might be a gathering of generous donors who may wish to support the project. Every dollar and contribution is valued. The resurfacing of this space is an opportunity to celebrate the importance of physical activity for all!
FORPS Picnic on the Oval
Friday 13 December
Friday’s weather has been scheduled and the forecast is for a friendly well-fed evening! Over a hundred paella’s have been ordered. A special thanks to TheirCare for ensuring the BBQ will be sizzling for those who prefer a less sophisticated sausage in bread! Students will enjoy making use of the new GaGa pit and may even introduce parents to the latest craze. Sports equipment will be available for those students who are happy to kick a football or fancy a cricket game. All are welcome. Read the FORPS information to find out more. Bring a rug and enjoy this relaxed entry into the holiday season.
Year 5 Leadership Day
Tuesday 10 December
Year 5 students presented their leadership speeches to staff and Year 3 and 4 students in the Chandler Hall. They all reflected on the importance of the school values and roles and responsibilities of student leadership at Rosanna Primary School. This can be a nerve-wracking experience but every student presented in a thoughtful reflective and confident manner. Congrats to all who shared in this important experience. We look forward to announcing the results at the final assembly.
Last Week Festivities 2024
Year 6 Graduation
Monday 16 December
We are looking forward to marking the end of primary education for Year 6 students at Viewbank College on Monday evening. It will be an opportunity to remember as well as prepare for the learning and life adventures ahead. A formal ceremony will be followed by a relaxed evening meal back at the school! Thanks to all for joining to affirm each students' contribution over their years with us.
Big Day Out
Tuesday 17 December
On Tuesday morning, we will board buses and head to the Hoyts cinema at Northlands. Prep to Year 2 students will watch The Gruffalo’s Child and Stickman, while our students in Years 3 to 6 will adventure with Moana 2. Students will return to school for lunch and an afternoon of board games. Students are encouraged to bring a favourite game (not with too many pieces) to share with others in their class and year level.
Dress to Express
Wednesday 18 December
The weird, wacky and relaxed will join us on this Junior School Fundraiser next Wednesday. Students are invited to come along in clothing that represents themselves and contribute a gold coin to the fundraiser. For a number of our classes it will mean a class shift until the end of the school year, as classrooms are prepared for their 2025 occupants.
Student Reports Released
Wednesday 18 December
Student reports are released on Compass on Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure that you have access to Compass to ensure you can download the reports and keep in touch with what’s happening.
Friday Assembly and Early Finish
20 December
Friday afternoon at 12:40pm will be your chance to farewell Year 6 students and other students and staff transitioning from the school at our end of year assembly. We will be thanking families who have been a part of our community for so long, as well as introducing our 2025 Student Leaders.
The final assembly is also a chance to finalise lost property. A great deal of labelled lost property was returned to students last week. Unfortunately, this has led to the identification of many orphaned jackets. With no labels they cannot be returned to owners. Please peruse the lost property on the last day to identify any property belonging to you!!
School dismissal will occur at 1:30pm. Supervision in the yard will cease at 1:45pm.
Significant Dates for 2025
Please find attached the latest draft of the 2025 dates. We look forward to the adventures ahead and hope this document provides a clear view into the future.
