Dear parents and friends
A very short week this week at school. There are a few important messages below in regards to events taking place soon. Please especially note the closures days below.
Please note that the following days this Term will be school closure days.
Tomorrow 25 April: Anzac Day - public holiday
Friday 26 April: School Closure
Monday 29 April: School Closure - Staff First Aid training. (Camp Australia care will be available on Monday 29 April for those families who require it).
Today the whole school took part in an ANZAC ceremony run by our Year 5/6 class. This helped our students understand the significance of the day and the history behind it. This included the Ode of Remembrance as well as the Last Post.
Please see the attached flyer in regards to ordering school photos that will take place on Monday 6 May. The first attachment has the school code required for online orders. The second attachment is for online sibling photos.
Please contact the office or Advancedlife photography if you have any queries.
Please note that all students must be wearing the winter uniform from next week.
Girls Winter Uniform
Boys Winter Uniform
Today the Preps had a visit from the firemen at the Vermont South Fire Station. They spoke with the studens about staying safe around fire as well preventing fires from occuring. They will return in a couple of weeks to follow up with further learning.
Many of you would be aware of the M76 Mount Waverley Water main Renewal project on High Street Road. This project will soon be working across the Blackburn Road intersection (expected dates are May 5 - May 19).
The works will directly impact how many staff/parents access our school. There will be no right hand turn around the intersection, lane access along the work area will be limited to one lane each way in each direction. Pedestrians will be able to safely cross from a temporary cross over at Elm Grove and at Hunters Street respectively. Please consider allowing extra time to travel to school.
Students who use the bus will also be impacted as the following stops will be closing soon:
Route 734: Blackburn High Street Road (both ways)
Route 703: Doone Ave/Blackburn Road ( to Blackburn Station)
There will be traffic management on site to assist pedestrians and motorists to navigate the area. Please see the attached images for further details.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning or wellbeing, please contact their teacher or myself.
Regards
Shane Davoren
