Term 2, Week 3
On the 25th of March, the year 5's and 6's drove 2 and a half hours to Waratah Bay Beach camp. As soon as we got there I could smell the salty sea air as we unpacked our luggage and went to our cabins to get ready for our first activity.
My group's first activity was surfing and we were all beginners. First we were told how to stand on our boards and how to stand up on the waves. As soon as we all understood, we went out and were thrown in the deep end. We all got some good waves and some bad, but in the end, it was fun.
After our first activity we went back to our cabins and had afternoon tea.
Soon after our afternoon tea we got ready for our next activity.
Our afternoon went pretty smoothly and we all had a yummy dinner, went on a night walk, roasted some marshmallows and though it was tricky to sleep, we still slept well.
The rest of the days went on pretty much the same except for one night when Landon became Obi Wan Kenobi and his torch became his trusty lightsaber!
While on another night walk we saw the little crabs native to Waratah Bay. It was amazing to see the little critters scuttling around in the sand!
Personally, my favourite activity was rock climbing because the rocks weren't too tricky to climb but they were still a little challenging.
My favourite food was probably the bacon and eggs we had for breakfast because it didn’t make me feel sick.
The cabins were pretty nice with the on sweets and not having to go to the outside toilets/showers.
But overall I would have rated the camp 4.1/5 stars.
Thank you for reading!

5/6 Camp Reflection
After 2 hours of driving we got there!
We went into the main hall of Waratah bay camp where we would be eating, after eating we found our bags and went to our cabins where we could shower, get changed and sleep.
After we found our groups and went to our first activity which was beach Volleyball. We weren't that good but we still had lots of fun.
Next, was low ropes where we would be in pairs and it was easy until the challenge.
The available challenge options were to either complete the course blindfolded or to fill a cup of water and finish the course without spilling everything. But Luca and I came up with a strategy to not spill ANY water and that was the hold my water method so your partner holds the cup while you do the course.
To finish day 1 was GIANT SWING which was fun cause we went so high and dropped down. Then we had dinner. When dinner finished it was nightwalk and campfire. They were pretty fun.
The next day, we had more activities such as sandcastle building, nitro crossing, rock climbing. Rock climbing and sandcastle building were alright but nitro crossing was really fun because we got to swing on a rope and we had to get a huge bucket of nitroglycerin (JUST WATER) to the other side of the river (JUST A SMALL GAP).
After dinner we watched Wonder.
Day 3 we went surfing which was good and bad not because the surfing was very windy so everyone's board went flying.
We got hit in the head around 10 to 20 times. Luckily we had helmets so it wouldn't hurt so bad.and that what it felt like it was all we did that day.
After dinner we had a disco and it was good. The 4th and the final day we went out and were kite flying for the rest of the time at Waratah beach bay camp and that was it.

During our recent immersion day at John Paul College, Year 5 students had an exciting experience!
Exploring the diverse array of subjects and opportunities offered at JPC.
Students were shown the cooking rooms where they had the opportunity to try different foods and explore what it would be like to do a 'theory' hospitality class.
Wearing lab coats and safety goggles, students conducted 4 different hands-on experiments experiments that ignited their curiosity and fascination.
It was a fun and educational day that left everyone excited at knowing these wonderful subjects lie ahead for them to experience when they start high school.
