Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,
What a wonderful 2 weeks it has been in our school and wider community.
This weekend completed the 5K for $5K, a fundraising event for the Garcia family. It has been amazing to see our community rally around this event and making sure that the event was successful! This is what community is all about. It is our faith in action, our calling to help others in need. It has been a privilege to watch this all come together and I thank each and every person in our community for their contributions. It takes a village!!!
Last Wednesday our 2 school captains Bonnie and Braxton, along with our 3 Grade 6 SRC leaders attended an ANZAC Day school commemoration service at the Frankston War Memorial in Beauty Park. The students participated in a traditional laying of the wreaths, and placed their own poppy in the garden to remember all the soldiers that have been laid to rest. All 5 of our leaders represented our school with pride and it was wonderful to see our leaders taking action in the wider community.
Last Wednesday we also inducted our new Fire Carriers to the Fire Carrier program, which was done through a traditional smoking ceremony at John Paul College. This most sacred event was even more special, with a Father/Daughter being inducted as well as a Mother/Son! Congratulations to Emmie and her dad Chris as well as Cooper and his mum Erin along with students Harrison, Chloe, Eli, Tahnee, Scarlett, Lenny and Jack, with teachers Mrs D and Miss Brough. The aim of the FIRE (Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education) Carrier Project is to promote respect, fairness and inclusion for Aboriginal people. The FIRE Carrier Project promotes enculturation and reconciliation in our local catholic schools, with our Fire Carriers sharing a passion for learning about Aboriginal culture and history. They are committed to sharing this knowledge and promoting reconciliation within and beyond the school community.
Mothers Day stall and event
It’s time to gather your loose change and bring along a recycled shopping bag, as the P & F will hold the Mother’s Day stall next Wednesday 8th May. Lots of lovely treasures for the mums to enjoy on their special day. Please note the Mother’s Day Stall is on for one day ONLY and we will make sure that no one misses out!
We will also be holding our annual Mothers day event. Each year, we try to arrange the event and different times, so that those who may have previously missed out can attend. This year the event will be on Thursday 9th May, beginning at 3:15pm in the hall.
If you haven't let the office know you have a Prep child starting next year, please do so ASAP. We are now beginning to accept our new families and we do not want any current families to miss out! Prep 2025 is filling fast!
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the District Athletics this week! What an achievement to advance to this level! Once all the results are in, we may have some lucky students competing at the next level. We also had our Grade 5/6 cohort participating in Inter school sports on Friday against Frankston Heights.
On Friday our Grade 1 and 2's went on an excursion to Twisted Science! From all reports the students had a great time and learnt a lot! The students explored how things work, move and feel! Through interaction with the exhibits the students explored all the fun of science through play and curiosity. Here is a sneak peek at some of the learning and fun!
Father Chinua, has asked me to share this letter with our wider community.
Show Grace, Be the joy for others and God Bless.
