TERM 2, Week 2

Welcome to Term 2!

It was wonderful to see the joy on all student's faces as they arrived and settled back into learning last week.

This term for Inquiry our focus is on wonder. We will be exploring the concept of wonder across the curriculum. In Religion, our big wondering is 'Where is God?' We will be exploring this wondering through the story of creation, looking at both the natural world and the human world.

In Literacy, we have begun to explore the wonder of our senses and how they help us learn about the world around us. Last week we explored the sense of seeing, by observing what happens when you place Skittles in water. This week we explored the sense of tasting, by observing what we could taste when we ate the ANZAC biscuits we made.

Notes:

We have been continuing to practice with students the reading skill of 'tracking', that is pointing to the words as we say them. This supports students in not telling a story about a text and instead encourages them to look at each word as they read it. We encourage you to continue to practice this skill with your child as they read their reader.

Our new focus phonemes for the term are 'h u b r l d f i' and our focus camera words are 'day, of, a, he, today, for'.

Have a lovely weekend.
