Principal's Message
Dear Families,
A very warm welcome back to Term 2. I hope that everyone in our community managed to enjoy a restful break with family and friends. We look forward to a productive term of learning ahead.
All Principals received a message from The Honourable Ben Carroll Education MP to pass onto their respective communities. His message reminds families the importance of working in partnership towards a common goal of ensuring we support the growth of happy and healthy students. Term 2 is our reporting period and there will be more information sent out in the coming weeks regarding dates that reports will be sent home and the timeline for our 3 Way Conferences/Student Led Conferences, where parents, students and teachers have a conversation about the learning gains that have occurred for our students over the past semester. Conferences between students, teachers and parents will occur early Term 3. Student reports and portfolios will go home late this term – dates will be communicated via our Newsletter in the Dates section – please look out for those dates.
PIVOT – LEARNING AND WELLBEING CHECK – IN SURVEYS: This term our students are starting our Pivot surveys. Pivot surveys support our staff in understanding how students feel about their learning and well-being. We use the Pivot tool to support our students’ voice and agency and for our teachers to adjust programs to engage and target students at their level of need. Pivot’s student survey for teaching is a tool for teachers and schools to measure the impact of teaching practice and engagement. The survey is supported by resources and recommendations that encourage next day improvement through evidence-based strategies.
Pivot’s practical and targeted Wellbeing for Learning tool allows our teachers to measure, track and support wellbeing so our students are better placed to learn. Our teachers use the survey to set goals for themselves as practitioners and share this with students so that our students have a sense that they have been heard.
