PENTECOST

Pentecost commemorates the descending of the Holy Spirit and the beginning of the church, also known as the birthday of the church. We celebrated Pentecost at a whole school assembly on Monday. The Holy Spirit is referred to as the Lord and Giver of Life in the Nicene creed. He is the Creator Spirit, present before the creation of the universe and through his power everything was made in Jesus Christ, by God the Father.

Dear Lord,

As we celebrate the joyous time of Pentecost,

may we see it as a reminder of the transformative power of God's  love. Help us to remember the mission entrusted to us as the followers of Christ. May we embrace the values of compassion, understanding and empathy, seeking to foster a spirit of inclusivity and respect within our school, our families, our communities sand ultimately the world around us. Amen

Thank you for all those who joined us or the Pentecost Liturgy. Year 4 did a wonderful job leading us through this celebration.

Our school’s contributions to the Winter Appeal will allow Vinnies to continue supporting older women who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, to have access to the support they need to get back on their feet and to be safe and well.

YEAR 2 STORY TELLING

Year 2 have explored the story of Jesus and the Tax Collector.  Through this story we introduce Year 2 learnt about repentance and ‘beginning again’. Zacchaeus was not a popular man because he was a tax collector and he took more of the people’s money than he should. However, when Jesus came along, he reached out to Zacchaeus and even offered to eat in his home. This was a mark of great respect and from this Zacchaeus changed.

The students explored this story through Lego, Playdough and creating drama reanactments of the story.

ALTAR SERVING

The children in Years 5 and 6 were given the opportunity to undergo altar serving training under the guidance of Fr Rafael. Congratulations to Clara Walis, Francesca Russo-McGee, Erin Laird and Amelia Daley on completing this training.

CATECHESIS FOR ADULTS
