Year 9 News
Vermont Secondary College
We would like to thank our year 9 students and their families for attending the Student Progress Conferences on Wednesday 17th April. I’m sure you will appreciate the time and sage advice from our teachers. We urge all parents/guardians to access the reports for your student, from Compass.
Once again, the homework club will be operating throughout Term 2 and all students are encouraged to attend the sessions. Opportunities to sign up for interschool sports will be offered and again, all students are urged to be part of a team.
Brainstorm productions, performing ‘Sticks and Stones’ for our year 9 students has been postponed until June due to illness of a performer.
We look forward to an engaging theatre production which addresses bullying, harassment and aggression at school, at home and online. The production follows two energetic performers who explore how negative patterns of behaviours can develop through modelling from peers, family, social media, YouTube and video games. They demonstrate the role of the fight/flight response and how this energy can be channelled into positive pursuits.
Some students may want to request an elective subject change for Semester Two. The subject change form can be collected from the Student Managers office and should be returned to the same office by Friday 17th May. Requests are not accepted for French or German as these are year long subjects. We will do our best with requests but, naturally, there are no guarantees.
Vermont Secondary Colleges prides itself on providing continued support to all students to assist in their learning and personal growth. We encourage positive and constructive partnerships with parents and guardians, to ensure our students are inspired to be their very best.
All students are expected to attend school and classes daily and any absences are to be report to the school. Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their child's Student Manager with any concerns or questions.
