YEAR 3

FROM THE CLASSROOM
It has been another wonderful week of learning in our classroom. Students have been engaged in a range of exciting activities across all learning areas, demonstrating curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm. We are proud of the effort students have shown as they continue to develop new skills and build on their understanding through hands-on learning experiences.
MATHEMATICS This week, students explored odd and even numbers and investigated repeating patterns. They identified number patterns, created their own repeating patterns using a variety of materials, and practiced recognising whether numbers were odd or even. These activities helped students strengthen their number sense and patterning skills.
READING In Reading, students continued exploring the text World's Kitchen, which introduces recipes from different cultures around the world. Through this text, students learned about a range of foods and traditions while continuing to develop important comprehension strategies, including identifying and clarifying "speed bumps" when meaning breaks down during reading.
WRITING Students continued working through the innovation stage of the Talk for Writing process. They planned their own innovations and began writing their adapted versions of the mentor text. This allowed students to apply their understanding of story structure while developing their creativity and confidence as writers.
- Ella’s story features a microphone that starts to glow.
- In Kevin’s story, a silver wolf helps his character Jack find his way home.
- Anant’s story is set in a very dark museum and features the portrait of Mona Lisa.
INQUIRY In Inquiry, students designed and created advertisements for their healthy McRamlegh meal options. They considered how advertisements persuade an audience and used creative ideas, visuals, and persuasive language to promote their healthy food choices.
