YEAR 5

FROM THE CLASSROOM

Our Grade 5 students have been working hard across all areas of learning this week.

In Mathematics, students have been exploring probability through a range of chance experiments. They have been making predictions, conducting trials, and recording results to develop their understanding of chance and likelihood. Students have been using mathematical language to explain their thinking and compare expected outcomes with experimental results.

In Writing, students have been developing their narrative skills by focusing on the use of action and dialogue to strengthen their stories. Using our mentor text, 'The Magic Geode'. Students have explored how authors create engaging characters and events by showing emotions, adding detail, and making deliberate writing choices.

We have continued building our reading skills by connecting our learning to our Inquiry unit. Students have been exploring the lives of successful business people, developing their note-taking and summarising skills as they identify key achievements, challenges, and qualities that contributed to their success.

In Inquiry, students have been exploring consumers and the different needs that influence purchasing decisions. They have investigated how businesses identify their target audience and understand consumer needs in order to create products and services that are valuable and effective.

Thank you to all families who attended our Student-Led Conferences this week. It was wonderful to see students confidently sharing their learning, reflecting on their achievements, and celebrating their progress.
