YEAR 2

FROM THE CLASSROOM
We have had a wonderful week in Grade 2. The children continue to settle back into school routines well.
In Reading, the students have been reading 'Jetty Jumping and The Deep'. They have been learning key vocabulary from the text and applying this in their writing. The students have also learnt how to find the main idea and then make text to text connections.
In Writing, the students have been learning how to use a range of adverbs in their writing to describe how a character does something to make their writing more engaging for their reader.
In Mathematics, students have been learning to solve worded problems using Australian Money. The children have started with specific amounts of money and taken away what they have spent. They have then calculated how much money they have left over.
During Inquiry, students have been identifying Australian landmarks, animals and places and labelling them on a map.
In Wellbeing, students have been learning how to help each other. We have continued to focus on the value of respect and how this looks both in the classroom and on the yard.

REMINDERS
MORNING ARRIVAL TIMES
A big thank you to our families for supporting students to arrive at school on time. We have noticed a wonderful improvement in punctuality, which has helped create a calm and settled start to the day with fewer interruptions to learning.
As a reminder, students should be in their classroom and ready to learn by 8:35am each morning.
