Learning
and Teaching

It has been wonderful to see the growth and progress our students have made throughout the first half of the year. Teachers and Education Support staff have been celebrating the many successes evident across our classrooms, with recent assessment and testing data highlighting the positive impact of consistent, explicit teaching and targeted support.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this growth is seeing students develop a genuine sense of confidence in their own abilities. As they recognise their own progress, they experience the intrinsic motivation that comes from knowing that effort and persistence lead to improvement. Celebrating these "I can do it!" moments helps to foster a positive learning culture where students are willing to challenge themselves and embrace new learning opportunities.
This year, our work has been strongly guided by the Magnify Sandhurst initiative, which encourages schools across the diocese to create learning environments where every student is known, challenged, and supported to achieve their personal best. Through Magnify, we continue to strengthen our use of evidence-informed teaching practices, high expectations, and data-driven decision making to ensure that every child has the opportunity to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our staff regularly work together to analyse student data, reflect on teaching practices, and plan targeted learning experiences that meet the needs of individual students. This collaborative approach allows us to celebrate successes while also identifying the next steps in each child's learning journey.
The growth we have seen from the beginning of 2025 until now has been particularly encouraging. Student assessment data is demonstrating clear and explicit gains across a range of learning areas, reflecting the dedication of our students, staff, and families working in partnership.
Over the final two weeks of term, we will be revisiting and consolidating all four of our Expectation Spotlights: We Try Our Best, We Take Care of Belongings, We Follow Our Expected/School Routines, and We Respond in Turn. Students will reflect on how these expectations help create a positive, respectful and successful learning environment, and will be encouraged to demonstrate them consistently across all areas of school life.

Our Classroom Mastery observation with Bridie was a great success. It was wonderful to showcase the routines that have become embedded across our classrooms, with students confidently demonstrating our Cue to Start, Asking and Answering Questions, and Using Mini Whiteboards routines. Bridie was highly complimentary of the consistency she observed across the school and the way students engaged with these practices. Her feedback highlighted the positive learning culture that has been created and the strong foundations that are supporting student engagement, participation and success in the classroom.
