Foundation (Prep)
English
This term, students in Prep C have become more and more independent in Reading Groups. They have challenged themselves with a range of fiction and non-fiction texts and have enjoyed a variety of literacy games after reading.
We have continued to focus on story writing this term (narratives). This week, we tied it in with our focus on the letter /z/ in handwriting and wrote stories about zebras.
Last week we made xylophones and recorded words that contained the /x/ sound.
Leading up to Footy Day, Prep C made football jumpers in their favourite team colours. We then wrote about our team on the back of our jerseys. It is an exciting time of year as students grow in confidence with expressing themselves in writing.
Maths
In Maths, we have been focusing on measurement. The students have discussed the different ways we can measure including: length, time, weight and capacity. Over the past 2 weeks we have had a chance to explore these concepts further.
We have also continued to practice our number bonds to ten.
Mad Hatter Tea Party
As a part of our Prep - 2 camp program, students in Foundation were invited to stay at school for afternoon tea. The Grade 1 children stayed on to have dinner and the Grade 2s then stayed on to enjoy a sleepover at school.
Our theme this year was a wonderful Mad Hatter Tea Party! The students made awesome hats in Art with Mrs Clarke and we enjoyed afternoon tea together at our beautifully decorated tables.
Our tea was followed by a game of pin the grin on the Cheshire Cat and then we had fun playing games on the oval. Overall, we had a magical time and it was a huge success!
Happy holidays everyone!
I hope you all enjoy a well-earned rest.
