The Ballad of Term 3
Inspired by the poetry that our Grade 3 and 4 students have been learning about and writing this Term. I thought I would follow their lead and capture Term 3 in a Ballad of our own. Enjoy and have a lovely holiday everyone!
At ACPS, the term was bright, With fun and learning, pure delight.
We learned, we grew, in every way, Supporting each other day by day.
We embraced the Olympics, in green and gold, Projects, events and
Aussie dreams to unfold. An opening ceremony with a torch of our own. The event, perfectly captured, by Jimmy and his drone.
Our Preps, they marked a hundred days, With smiles and cheers and joyful praise. A milestone reached, they’ve come so far, Each one of them a shining star.
The Athletics Carnival put us to the test, With every student giving their absolute best. Running, jumping, strength abound, Our spirits soared, each time our feet hit the ground.
Book Week brought us tales to share, With costumes, stories everywhere. We paraded round, our love for books, Alive in every student’s looks.
For Fathers Day, a breakfast treat, And a stall that made the day complete. We thanked our Dads with gifts and cheer, Their love and laughter ever near.
Grade 5 and 6 to Marysville they went, Campfire tales and time well spent. They smiled and laughed, explored the land, Challenged but stronger, hand in hand.
Hooptime came, the courts ablaze, A ball in hand, we earned our praise. In every bounce and shot that was scored, Our school’s great heart, together it roared.
A hundred skips through August flew, For Jeans4Genes, the cause we knew. Together, skipping to a Taylor Swift beat, Our feet and hearts in rhythm so sweet.
The Silent Disco lit the night, Everyone danced with pure delight. In every headset, a selected song, That brought our school together strong.
Some took to a larger stage, In Wizard of Oz, they performed beyond age. At Warrandyte High, a memorable night. They brought the magic of Dorothy’s tale alight.
That Bird Has Arms took flight one day, As Books to Life showed us the way. Prep to Grade 2’s Mad Hatter fun, And the sleepover—a memorable night for everyone.
Then Footy Pie Day, to finish it off, With cheers and footy colours, Term 3 was sent off. Through every event, both big and small, we embrace it together, one and all.
At ACPS, we love the breeze, The outdoors where we play amongst the trees. We sing, we dance, we run and play, Supporting each other, every day.
To students, parents, teachers too, A thank you deep for all you do. You make our school a place of cheer, Where every day we grow, we’re here.
