Instrumental Music/Soiree

On behalf of the Instrumental Music Team, we are pleased to share highlights from recent music events where TLSC’s talented students showcased their skills and engaged with the community.  All experiences provided valuable learning opportunities and unforgettable moments for all involved.

VMTA Concert: A Platform for Musical Growth

On Saturday, September 28th, five TLSC piano students (Angela Arancibia, Yazira Mendez-Recinos, Lachlan Keane, Eve Kastanaras and Sophia Lumacang) participated in the Victorian Music Teachers' Association (VMTA) concert, held at St Peter's Anglican Church in Box Hill. This event, taking place during the term break, offered a wonderful chance for students, especially those in Year 12, to perform in front of an audience just before their VCE Music performance exams. The concert featured solo piano performances as well as piano duets, giving students a varied experience in both solo and collaborative playing.

TLSC students not only gained performance experience but also observed a wide range of performances by peers from other schools. This exposure enriched their understanding of musical interpretation and stage presence, making it a valuable learning experience for all involved. We are proud of the involved students for their hard work and dedication!

Music Outreach at Remus Way Children's Centre: Engaging Young Minds

On October 28th, ten TLSC music students took part in a special Music Outreach event at Remus Way Children's Centre. The ensemble included violinists, a cellist, and a guitarist who performed a series of lively nursery rhymes for an audience of preschoolers (ages 3-5). This interactive concert allowed children to clap along to the music, creating a fun, hands-on musical experience.

Following the performance, students introduced the preschoolers to orchestral string instruments, including violins in 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4 sizes. Under the guidance of TLSC students, the children had the exciting opportunity to try the violins, sparking curiosity and joy as they learned about these instruments. TLSC students found the experience truly meaningful, and the enthusiasm from the children and their educators made the day all the more rewarding.

These events reflect the talent and generosity of TLSC students, and we thank everyone involved for their commitment to learning and community engagement. We look forward to more such enriching events in the future!

TLSC Students Shine at Music Soiree

In the last week of term 3, our school theatrette was filled with the sound of music, a huge audience and many applauses as our talented students took the stage for this semester’s music soiree. The evening was a spectacular showcase of talent, hard work, and passion for music, bringing together students, teachers, and families for an unforgettable night.

The concert featured a wide variety of performances, from our dynamic pianists that opened the show to our ever-improving voice students’ rendition of popular songs. Students from all year levels contributed their unique styles and skills, showing the growth of our music program over the year. The audience was especially moved by the senior soloists, whose performances were marked by confidence and artistry.

Under the guidance of our music teachers, students rehearsed tirelessly, dedicating hours of practice to perfect their pieces. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the music department, parents, and staff members who helped make this event a resounding success. We’re proud of our young musicians and look forward to more inspiring performances in the future. Keep an eye out for the end of year dance and music ensembles concerts!!
