Year 11 Psychology Excursion

ArtVo: A Visual Feast

On September 13th, our Year 11 Psychology students embarked on an exciting excursion to ArtVo, an immersive art gallery in Melbourne that specializes in optical illusions and 3D art. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore key concepts related to visual perception, a crucial topic of our Unit 2 studies.

ArtVo’s interactive displays play with depth, colour, and perspective, allowing students to step into paintings and become part of the art. The exhibits challenged the students to question how our brains interpret visual stimuli, offering a hands-on experience with the principles of gestalt principles, depth cues and visual constancies.

Throughout the day, the students enthusiastically participated in the activities and enjoyed the playful illusions. The trip not only deepened their understanding of visual perception but also allowed for a fun and creative exploration of the world of Art and Psychology.

The day was a great success, and our students came away will a stronger grasp of how we perceive the world around us.
