Year 10 Gold Coast Trip
On the morning of Saturday the 14th of September, 48 excited year 10 students started their 26-hour journey to the Gold Coast, Queensland. Despite the length of the bus ride, everyone made it a positive experience with laughter, games and fun. Throughout the trip the bus would make many stops letting the students have a walk, eat some food and have a look at their surroundings. Overnight, the students started to sleep and awaited the next few days.
At 10am on Sunday the students made it to Queensland. A lot of the students were tired after the long ride, but the excitement of the theme parks quickly overcome that. The year 10's were overjoyed by the warm and sunny weather, as they were all used to Melbourne’s cold and rainy days. The cohort continued to live out there once in a lifetime adventure with their peers by going to Wet N’ Wild, Dream World, and lastly Movie World. The students made many memories at the theme parks from being on waterslide to roller coasters with their friends.
The accommodation brought students and teachers together by afternoon card games and late volleyball matches outside the lodge. Waking up at 6am for breakfast was a bit of a hassle but the anticipation for the day to come made it worth the while.
Throughout the 6 days in Gold Coast, the cohort had days full of many new sites to see and things to do. From activities like surfing and paddle boarding on the beach, mini golfing, and seeing the animals at the wildlife sanctuary - to making memories at the shopping centre, going to the movies, and eating dinner at the pub in Surfers Paradise, the year 10's all grew closer together as each day went on.
The bus ride home was filled with chatter and reminiscing about the past week in sunny Gold Coast, but none of the trip would’ve been possible without the work of our amazing teachers.
On behalf of the Year 10 cohort, we would like to thank:
- Mr Williams for his playful banter that kept a smile on everyone’s faces.
- Mr O’Leary for organising our week and making sure everyone was on time for our adventures.
- Ms Johnson for making sure that everyone was fed on the bus ride and woke up with excitement for the day to come.
- Ms Mastrop for keeping our clothes clean and making sure that everyone was having fun.
- Mr Strachan for keeping us entertained with his energy and enthusiasm.
The Year 10's had a ton of fun together on the camp and would highly encourage the following year levels to make these memories of their own.
