Safe socials – for parents and carers

The Victorian Government have tips and resources for parents, carers and families to support primary school students to be safe when using social media.

Even if your child isn’t yet using social media, you can prepare them by fostering good online behaviours and staying informed about online safety.

View the Safe Socials webpage for information on:

  • Supporting positive and safe online experiences for your child
  • Signs a child or young person might need support
  • What to do if your child experiences something unsafe online
  • Where to reach out to for more support for your child

The eSafety Commissioner’s website also offers resources to help you support your children’s safe digital experiences. The site includes an eSafety Guide, detailing social media platforms, games, and apps, their age requirements, and how to report inappropriate content.
