Monsieur Paul and Madame Emily
We’re excited to share what’s happening in our French classes this term! Each year group is diving into engaging topics that are sure to inspire our students’ love for the French language and culture.
Prep
Our youngest learners are exploring the French language by learning the names of pets and then taking part in a fruit salad unit. Through songs, games, and interactive activities, they will be increasing their vocabulary and starting to form simple sentences.
Year 1
This term, Year 1 students are discovering farm animals. They’ll be using new vocabulary to describe their favourite animals. Then, they will learn about the seasons, comparing the sights and sounds of each season in Australia and France.
Year 2
Year 2 is off on an adventure to learn about animal habitats. They’ll be researching where various animals live and creating fun posters. Near the end of the year, we will discuss holiday traditions in French-speaking countries, blending geography with cultural insights.
Year 3
Students in Year 3 are focusing on houses. They’ll be learning about different types of homes and designing their dream home. Later, they will research a French-speaking country to explore various cultures through a fun project.
Year 4
Our Year 4 students are excited to perform their plays based on “The Three Little Pigs”! Or, as we say in French, “Les Trois Petit Cochons”. In addition, they’ll be working on research projects about French culture.
Year 5
In Year 5, students are researching famous French people while also learning how to order from a café. This practical language skill will come in handy as they role-play real-life scenarios, gaining confidence in their speaking abilities.
Year 6
Finally, our Year 6 students are diving into the world of grammar, focusing on writing in different tenses. Alongside this, they’ll be working on passion projects, allowing them to explore topics of interest and present their findings.
We’re also thrilled to announce that Sophie in Year 4 was one of the winners of the state-wide Berthe Mouchette French Poetry Competition! Her performance truly showcased her talent and passion for the language.
We’d also like to celebrate Alina from Year 3, who won the French Poetry Art Competition by beautifully illustrating her poem. Both students have demonstrated exceptional creativity and enthusiasm for the French language! You can see Alina’s artwork below.
Merci beaucoup for your continued support!
