Sustainability
There have been lots of valuable projects getting completed in Sustainability this term.
Leif’s group have continued monitoring nesting boxes and collecting data of the species using them which include sugar gliders, squirrel girders, possums and different varieties of bats.
In Josh’s group a new version of all natural aquatic plant rafts were designed and assembled. Students applied creative thinking skills and discussed with their peers best ways to make the new and improved aquatic plant rafts. Students in this group also produced three Reed rafts to install in the billabong.
Lori’s group supported Josh’s reed raft group by planting the aquatic plants into the rafts and setting sail into the Mullinmur Billabong. They also continued to monitor the Mullinmur Billabong for any evidence of turtle eggs; if there were any nests found, they covered them with some mesh to help keep them safe from threats such as foxes. Data was continuously uploaded to the Million Turtles Project.
