Principal's Reflection

Eamonn Buckley

As the 2024 school year concludes I would like to take the opportunity to thank the entire Borinya community for your continued support. In what has been a busy three terms I have felt welcomed and accepted and feel that Borinya is well placed to keep improving and building on the successes of 2023 and 24.

Schools are ultimately places of growth and support, where celebrating our young peoples’ successes allows for the deepening of positive relationships and connections to community and inevitably positive student outcomes in learning.

The 2024 school year has seen significant learning and personal growth across our entire student body. Recent analysis of our Borinya learning data, in Literacy and Maths, shows we have a number of students achieving 6 to 12 months learning growth for the school year. However, we are excited and proud to see several of our young people accomplish upwards of 2 to 5 years growth for both Literacy and Maths.

None of this happens by accident. Whilst our learning programs are designed to meet students at their level it is the hard work and commitment to learning, by our students, that results in this outstanding growth. This is further achieved by our committed teachers and educational support staff who place learning and positive relationships at the heart of all they do. This ensures the needs and strengths of all students are accounted for so as every opportunity for success can be provided. In this way we lay the foundations for our students to access learning in a way that works for them.

I wish you all a merry Christmas, a safe and prosperous new year and look forward to continuing the journey with you all in 2025.
